I recently read an article about the key attributes and results of being a great employer. For purposes of this blog and quick readability, I will just highlight the key points.
Mark Feffer, Writer, states ‘pay, benefits and perks are only part of the story’ of what makes a great workplace. What are the keys to making your business an optimal work culture for your current and future employees?
- Trust: Employers who trust, receive trust back from their employees. It is empowering. Be clear about the company’s issues and successes. Engage your employees on making decision.
- Engagement: A natural progression if TRUST is clearly established. Employees are part of the mission of the company and take pride in their contributions.
- Transparency: Share your business – sales numbers, contracts, customer feedback.
Tie those three things together and you have ownership! Feffer shares that a company who practiced these values with their employees had recently fell upon hard-times. Transparency
They gathered the employees, had a meeting about the recent turn-of-events, and it was the employees who decided how to handle the problem. Engagement
They opted for a reduction in pay across the board so there would be no layoffs. Trust
Don’t be satisfied with being ‘good’. Be great!
